Our Story

Our story began as a hobby to source and roast specialty coffee and introduce it to friends and family. That choice has grown our small hobby into something bigger. As we begin this new phase we wanted to share some of our philosophy as to our why.

Sourcing: Most coffee is sourced from large scale producers that don’t focus on quality and the story behind the coffee being purchased. We wanted to be part of the movement in coffee to source top quality coffee but source coffees that are small batch where the transactions between exporter and farmer are direct.

Roasting: Most of the coffee consumed in the United States and elsewhere is roasted darker. Theres a couple reasons for this. The first is the quality of the coffee, the easiest way to make poor quality is to roast it darker, this covers and unique terroir (where its grown) characteristics the bean would have presented in a lighter to medium roast. The second is darker roast coffees when brewed are not as pleasing to drink black so adding adjuncts like creamers and flavors are used to offset the taste. We want to join the change to help people discover the true flavors of coffee as each one is unique thanks to the terroir and special attention small batch farmers pay to the quality of their harvest

Sustainability: Large scale coffee production can lead to over production, poor return on investment for farmers, and sometimes devastating environmental impacts to small regions. We at CRCR like to focus on lots referred to as “Microlots”, these lots are sourced by us as the focus on Sustainability, Traceability, and Quality are paramount to us. Sourcing Microlots allows us to bring new and unique coffees to our customers while being able to be part of a sustainable ecosystem where the farmers are provided with a better return for their crop thanks to their attention and dedication to quality.

We hope to bring enthusiasm into your morning or daily routine by providing coffee that is exceptional as well as coffee that can stand on its own and be drank without any additives.
